Looking to declutter your wardrobe and give your clothes a new home? Vinted’s got you covered.

The Vinted app offers an online marketplace where you can buy and sell clothes, accessories, books, petcare… you name it! The app is free and easy to use, allowing for pre-loved pieces to be reused and recycled. Vinted’s sustainable agenda reminds us of the negative impacts fast fashion and mass textile waste have on the environment. By shopping second-hand through Vinted instead of buying new, 678,691 tonnes of carbon emissions were avoided in 2023 (Vinted’s Impact Report 2023).

The nature of the app helps to reduce the pollution caused by throwing away clothes or shopping with fast fashion brands. It is estimated about 30% of unwanted clothes end up in UK landfill sites each year with less than a fifth of used clothes being recycled (Fashion Waste Facts and Statistics). Vinted promotes the idea of reusing clothing and other items not only so sellers can receive some extra cash, but so that the environment can benefit from less items being sent to landfill.

Things we love about the app

Vinted allows sellers to keep 100% of their asking price. Buyers pay for shipping and the platform doesn’t charge any fees for listing or selling. One thing we love about the app is the convenient messaging between users. Buyers and sellers can negotiate prices, ask questions and accept or decline new offers all in-app. So, when that cheeky person tries to bargain half the price of your designer top, you can politely decline.

It's safe to say that most sellers find postage is the one thing they don’t look forward to sorting.Yet, Vinted makes postage simple and hassle-free for sellers through the ability to generate an in-app postage label. The Vinted app also has a handy price checker which displays recommended selling prices, making the process of listing an item that much easier. Vinted will show users the prices of other similar items that are either from the same brand or where the description is similar to the item they’re selling, giving a helpful indication of the price buyers might be willing to pay.

Screenshots from the Vinted app. First screen shows a home feed of suggested branded items the user might like. Second screen shows a sold brown co-ord set. Third screen shows different search categories within the app such as Women, Men, Kids, Home, Electronics, Entertainment and Pet care.
Users can buy and sell pre-loved items on the Vinted marketplace app

Although it’s not just the sellers who get all of the benefits of using the app. If you feel like a shopping spree, Vinted allows users to purchase a ‘bundle’ from a seller offering a 15% discount on the overall price. This way users can buy multiple items from their favourite sellers at a cheaper price, usually saving some money on separate delivery costs too. And if you're as indecisive as the rest of us shopaholics are…don’t worry! Vinted allows for users to favourite items, saving them to their profile and enabling them to come back and view them later on.

When purchasing via the Vinted app, a Buyer Protection fee is added to each item automatically to ensure the payment is held securely and to ensure the buyer is able to receive a refund. Refunds are given to buyers in the event the order was never shipped, lost during delivery, arrived damaged or significantly different from the product description. Though this adds to the overall cost for the buyer, the fee is often small and is essential to ensure a safe transaction.

We at ASquared value the companies that aim to make a change and impact the world around them for the better. The Vinted app is brilliant for buyers and sellers who want to contribute to the change and move away from the harmful impacts of the fast fashion industry.
