Say hello to Alex, our Lead Software Engineer with 10 years of experience across a host of agency and in-house projects! At just 14, when the World Wide Web was still all the rage, Alex was hooked - researching how it worked and borrowing stacks of library books to learn as much as humanly possible. This early fascination set him on the path to becoming a Software Engineer (even if he didn’t realise it at the time!). Since then, he’s built a career full of variety, working across industries from maritime and AI to startups, where he thrives on problem-solving and unleashing his creativity.
Alex originally started his studies in Music, but a pivot to Creative Computing at Goldsmiths University brought together his love for arts, design, and programming. Learning from freelance lecturers still active in the tech industry gave him invaluable real-world insights that shaped his approach to work. Today, Alex continues to merge his passions, whether he’s playing drums as a session musician or working on an innovative MusicTech app. His favourite genres? Heavy rock and math rock (yes, it’s a thing - we checked). But Alex’s creativity doesn’t stop at music or programming, he also loves to draw portraits, sketching with traditional pen and paper. He finds inspiration in the individuality of every face and loves the challenge of translating perception into reality.
At work, this same creative mindset helps him think outside the box, solve problems in fresh ways, and navigate the endless possibilities of software engineering. His enthusiasm for collaboration and mentoring developers allows him and his team to excel in an environment of constant learning and growth - especially in the ever-evolving tech industry. For Alex, the real joy of coding lies in the instant output - seeing his ideas come to life immediately is what makes it all so addictive.
